Summer camp is a great environment to make new friends, learn new skills, and make great memories. Here is what you need to look for in a summer camp sports program to make sure you get the program for your child at the best value for your family.
- All Day vs Part of the Day? - If you are wanting a sports camp that can also provide you with a place for your child to reside during the summer break you will be hard pressed to find a camp that does both. Many sports camp programs offer half day programs only or do not offer early or late pick up. Be sure to check on the times and availability for the camp.
- One Sport vs Multiple Sports? - Are you looking for a single sport for your child to perfect their skills in or would you like a well rounded summer camp program that offers a variety of sports training for your child to participate in? Too much of a good thing can be hard for kids as their attention spans tend to drift off after a while.
- Physical Conditioning / Speed Training - Try to find a summer camp program that not only teaches the technical side of sports but also works with your child to improve their physical conditioning. With youth sports rising in popularity in the US, many athletes have an excellent grasp of how to perform the techniques required for their sport but simply lack the physical conditioning or strength to execute them. There is no substitute for speed and coordination in sports and players that don't have them will be left behind no matter how much they know.
- Cost - More doesn't always mean better. Many sports training programs rely on their high summer camp rates to make their money for the year. The best way to save money on a camp is find a program that offers multiple services to your community such as the YMCA. The more programs a facility offers the less dependent they are on your fees to stay in business. This usually means a better value for you. Just be sure not to compromise training quality if you are able.

This place is awesome... Their rates are 1/2 of other camps and programs and the facility is much nicer.
